Bishop Olewine and the Executive Director of Connectional Ministries Rev. J. Martin Lee briefly addressed the laity before they went to the Clergy Session. A panel of youth gave their views of their hopes for the church and how to do effective ministry to and with youth (select the link).
There was a presentation about the revamping of United Methodist Men that's been happening over the past few years. The Commission now includes Scouting. Men are looking for a meaningful life that has purpose. Here's the framework that should be used in a local church.

Michael Adam Beck of Passional Church: Centering Mission in the Compassion of Jesus project has been working with Cal-Nevada on creating fresh expressions of Christian community outside of the church walls. Rev. Dr. Beck shared briefly why local churches need to consider a new way of reaching out to a world that very much needs help and how to do it.
