Accompanist/Collaborative Pianist
Wesley United Methodist Church, a small and vibrant church in Bakersfield,
California is looking for an accompanist for our chancel choir and worship settings.
This position provides weekly music on piano (organ also available) for worship and other
settings. The accompanist will collaborate with the music director and others in the
planning, rehearsing and administration of worship.
General Responsibilities
- Provide prelude, postlude and offertory music as well as accompany the
congregation when singing hymns at the once per week worship service on
Sundays at 10:30am. Provide music at additional seasonal worship services as
necessary such as Ash Wednesday, Good Friday/Maundy Thursday and
Christmas Eve.
- Accompany the chancel choir at rehearsals one day in mid-week, 6:30pm to 7:30pm
and Sunday rehearsals from 9:30am to 10:00am.
- Accompanist will have first option for weddings and funerals at Wesley. Rates
are $100 per event.
- Be able to read an open choral score and is an experienced rehearsal
accompanist.
- Be able to use piano as directed by the music director
and/or pastor. A pipe organ is also available.
